Mayor Lannoye reported that employees of the Street contractor had
been parking in the parking lot at the Garden Club, and some damage
to shrubs has resulted. He has contacted said persons regarding this
matter, and in the future they will not use this area for par#ing.
Mayor Lannoye presented a claim against the city made by PTm. & Donna
Burns for water damage to their property on 14th street. He stated
that Larry Dillon informed Charles Walker that the Burns were told
of the possibility of flooding when they purchased the property.
City Police and street employee opened the drain and aided the Burns
in draining the water from the premises. Mr. 'Strong, City insurance
Agent, recommended the City deny the claim. Cliff Tvedten moved to
deny said claim; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye has 4 pictures of the scene available to interested
persons.
Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Douglas County Commissioners
requesting the city annex a portion of 9th street and land at the
Bridge approach owned by the State. After a discussion, Council
members requested Mayor Lannoye discuss the 9th street area with
the Commissioners. No action can be taken on the area of the
Bridge approach, since such a proposal must be made by the property
owners.
