HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/21/1972 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesFebruary 21, 1972 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Ed Rich ' Doug Hanng Art O'Neal; Attorney John Carlson, Chief Cliff Hahn and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the 2/7/72 and 2/11/72 meetings were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current expense warrants nos. 4223 - 4233 Clifford E. Hahn $577.83 Joe H. Carl 540.60 Charles Kay Walker 525.48 Dorotha McGee 214.02 Michael L. Carlson 29757.23 Homer & Cordelia Vest 1.00 Clarence & Lucille Guthrie 203,000.00 Ernie Moore 300.00 Ed Rich moved to pay the bills; seconded by Art O'Neal and passed by a unanimous vote. The Mayor, Council and City Attorney discussed property acquisition and costs on the Baker street project. Ed Rich inquired about the amount of sand needed for the next winter season. Mayor Lannoye stated approximately 250 yards. Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Gellatly Igency concerning a new false arrest insurance policy for the Police Department, The Clerk was instructed to secure the policy in the amounts of 100,000.00 / 300,000.00 / 300,000.00 liability for false arrest insurance at a cost of 383.50 per year. Mayor Lannoye presented a Torte Claim filed by Charles Tradewell against the City of East Wenatchee and other defendants. Said claim was refered to the City Attorney, Mayor Lannoye inquired if the Council was interested in the City forming a Business Improvement District with local merchants for possible purchase of a parking lot. Art O'Neal stated that parking should be the decision of the merchants. After a discussion, Council members agreed that the merchants could form their own district and omit the city. John Carlson stated that if enough persons petition for a B.I.D., the Council was obligated to take the necessary action.
