HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/19/1973 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesFebruary 19, 1973 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to odder by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Darrell t McNeill, Doug Hanna, Cliff Tvedten, Ed Rich; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current expense warrants nos. 4797 - 4809 Dennis Alan Mengelos $514.85 Charles Kay Walker 598.16 Robert A. Kinkade 432.27 Clifford Eugene Hahn 690.52 Charles S. Syring 506.32 Dorotha McGee 254.25 John C. Carlson 350.00 Herbert J. Olive 40,00 Clerk, E. Wenatchee Post Office 40,00 Pedco Credit Union 50.00 Wm. M. Hamilton 213.31 Dorotha McGee 342.94 Mott W. Liek 192.09 Street warrant no. 1354 Mott W. Liek 394,17 Ed Rich moved that the bills be paid; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. ' Doug Hanna reported that the street light near the bank is out due to an undergrounding failure and will be repaired as soon as weather permits. Mayor Lannoye stated that heavy equipment crossing the sidewalk may have caused this problem. Mayor Lannoye reported that officials attending the transportation meeting felt that an ordinance should be adopted. This matter was tabled until the March 5th meeting, awaiting action by the legislature. Mayor Lannoye stated that Art Johnson has inquired if the City Council would object to the sidewalks in front of businesses being painted. After a discussion Council members felt this may have a checkboard look and were not ifi favor of this project. The Mayor explained to those present that the Police listing in the emergency section of the telephone directory is incorrect. He has confered with telephone co. officials regarding this matter. John Carlson suggested the city try to reach local residents through the local radio stations and newspapers. To date, no reply has been received from the Chrysler representative regarding the problems with the 1972 Dodge police car. Council members authorized the Mayor to contact the manufacturer. Mayor Lannoye read the resignation of James W. Smith from the ' East Wenatchee Board of Adjustment. Doug Hanna moved to accept said resignation; seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye requested Council members submit names of a possible sucessor to Mr. Smith. Darrell McNeill will contact Mr. Ed Dillon regarding his possible interest in serving on the Board of Adjust- ment, The Mayor will check on prices for insulation and floor for the shop building. Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Urban Arterial Board requesting notification of the status of Baker street project. John Carlson was instructed to contact Munson -Nash with regards to this matter, and a letter to the U.A.B. Charles Walker requested permission to purchase 4 tires for the Dodge Coronet police car. Purchase of 4 tires was authorized; Mayor Lannoye to present prices from a firm in California and Charles Walker to check priees locally. Charles Walker requested permission to take a police car for transportation to the graduation exercises for Dennis Mengelos at Bremerton, Washington. Permission was granted. Mr. Pearl Murphy discussed his property and street right-of-way on 1st St. S.E. with the Mayor, Council and City Attorney. Council members will inspect lst Street and the Murphy property and give their opinions at the next meeting. Doug Hanna moved that the meeting be adjourned; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed unanimously. � kk Clerk 1
