HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/18/1973 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesJune 18, 1973 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called I to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Doug Hanna, Darrell McNeill, Cliff Tvedten, Ed Rich; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current expense warrants nos. 4971 - 4981 Charles Kay Walker $598.16 Dennis Alan Mengelos 514.85 Dorotha McGee 254.25 Robert A. Kinkade 432.27 Charles S. Syring 430.97 John Carlson(for posting only) 350.00 Herbert J. Olive 40.00 Pedco Credit Union 50.00 Wm. M. Hamilton 213.31 Dorotha McGee 342.94 Don Whitaker 250.00 Mott W. Liek 192.09 Street warrants nos. 1402 - 1403 John C. Carlson 300.00 Mott IV. Liek 394.17 Doug Hanna moved that the bills be paid; seconded by Ed Rich and , passed by a unanimous vote. Darrell McNeill reported that the grass has been planted at the llth and Baker street park. Mayor Lannoye presented the Comprehensive Street program for 1974- 1979 to the Council and Resolution no. 1044 for the purpose of adoption of said street program. Ed Rich moved that the Street program & Resolution no. 1044 be accepted; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. The Public Hearing will be held July 2, 1973. The Council members gave their approval for John Carlson to attend the Attorney's t'onference at Spokane on June 21 and 22nd. The City Council positions were numbered for the 1973 election, as follows; Position No. 1 - Ed Rich; Position No. 2 - Arnold Stevens and position no. 3 - Darrell McNeill. Filing will begin September 7, 1973 and conclude September 21, 1973. John Carlson presented Ordinance No. 188 to the Mayor and Council. Said ordinance relates to the possession of marijuana. Ed Rich moved to approve and pass Ordinance no. 188; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed unanimously. The purchase of chairs was discussed. The Clerk was authorized to ' order 5 chairs from General Wholesale Products at a cost of 45.10 each. Mayor Lannoye read the proposal from Douglas County P.U.D. regarding the Street lighting system on Baker Street and the franchise fee now paid to the City by the P.U.D. 1 1 After a discussion, Council members decided that the proposal should be studied, and Doug Hanna was requested to prepare a proposal from the City to the P.U.D. Mayor Lannoye and the Council discussed the charges now imposed for a permit to open the City streets. The present charge for the permit does not cover the cost of supervising the proper repair of said excavations. This matter will be further discussed at the next meeting. Charles stalker requested permission to use a Police car to drive to Bremerton June 29, 1973 to attend graduation exercises for Bob Kinkade. Permission was given.
