HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/21/1975 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesJuly 21, 1975 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Doug Hanna, Cliff Tvedten, Ray Duncan, Darrell McNeill, Ed Rich; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Smith 397.34 Darrell McNeill moved that the bills be paid with the exception of the statement from Central Communications ; motion seconded by Ray Duncan and passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor Lannoye reported that Arnold Jacobsen has complained that water draining off the street has killed two trees in the vicinity of his property and requested that the City remove them. After a discussion it was decided that the trees may not be on City property telephone and T.V. cables are involved and the city will not remove them. Mayor Lannoye will notify the phone co. regarding this complaint. A meeting was held with petitioner Cliff Tvedten on a Notice of intent to Commence annexation proceedings presented to the Council on June 16, 1975. Said petition contained 100% valuation of the area requesting to be annexed. It was moved, seconded and passdd by the City Council that the City will require the adoption of the proposed zoning regilation as it is set forth in Ordinance nor 138, the Surburban Comprehensive Plan and that the property will be 1 1 zoned, if annexed, Residential District (R-1). Further, it was agreed that the city was it favor of the annexation, and as the City of East Wenatchee has no indebtedness, the Council stated that there will be no requirement of any assumption of indebtedness by the area to be annexed upon annexation. Cliff Teedten presented a petition for annexation containing signature of owner of 100% of the assessed property valuation, of the area requesting annexation. Doug Hanna moved that the City accept the petition and schedule the public hearing for same on August 4, 1975 at the hour of 8:00 p.m.; motion seconded by Ed Rich amd passed unanimously. A discussion was held regarding the need for repairs on 14th St. Ed Rich moved that the city call for bids for blacktopping 14th St. from Baker ave. to Arbor Terrace; bids to be opened at the regular Council meeting on August 4, 1975; city reserving the right to reject any or all bids; motion seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously. The City Council authorized the purchase of a converter for the radio for the City Hall. Approximate cost to be $20.00. City Councilman Cliff Tvedten gave notice of resignation; he is moving out of the City. Doug Hanna moved to incept the resignation with regret; seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed by a unanimous vote. ' The Clerk stated that two city council positions will be elgible for election in November, and were assigned numbers as follows: Position no. 1 now held by Doug Hanna and Position no. 2 now held by Cliff Tvedten. John Carlson reported to the Mayor and Councilmen on the U.A.B. matter involving the City and Munson -Nash. He wishes to try the matter of Munson -Nash liability to the City as a separate matter.
