Ray Duncan moved that bills be paid; seconded by John Willeford and passed
by unanimous vote.
the Clerk has received a letter from State Farm Insurance Co. proposing a
settlement in the amount of $403.11 for damages, to park tree and fence,
caused by Ellis accident. Ray Duncan moved that the offer be accepted;
seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously.
Mayor Johnson reported he has received a complaint on overtime parking
and stated some merchants contacted favor one hour parking on Main Street.
The City Attorney will check on the legality of the -City making payment
for a sign directing traffic to the City parking lot and report at the
next meeting.
The Mayor stated that Mr. Williams, from Association of Washington Cities
has offered to meet with City Officials regarding the matter of Grants
available to cities. The Council Members indicated they would be
interested in such a meeting.
A discussion was held regarding the proposed re -surfacing of Alvin Court.
Ray Duncan stated he feels Street Commission Ed Rich should be present
before any decision is made.
Charles Walker requested permission for three additional reserve officers -
for a total of 4 reserves. Harold Kirby introduced prospective appointees
Charles Schutt and Leslie Young, Terry Lyons unable to be present. Ray
Duncan moved to approve. a total of 4 reserve officers. Seconded by
Darrell McNeill, passed by a unanimous vote.
A discussion was held regarding the possibility of a Council Member serving
on the Civil Service Commission, City Attorney Neil Fuller staid: -he was
not aware of any law that probited such an appointment - he did advise
against it. Ray Duncan proposed Doug Hanna as a member of the Civil
Service Commission, but Mr. Hanna declined.
Darrell McNeill moved that the City offer the lot at 9th and Baker St. for
bid. Motion did not receive a second - Council Members wish to look at the
lot; tabled until next meeting.
Allen Lake told the Council that he is interested in purchasing a 10 ft.
wide parcel of land, owned by the City and adjacent to his property. No
action will be taken until description can be confirmed by the City.
Neil Fuller presented a letter from the Douglas County Commissioners to
Chelan County Commissioners and City of Wenatchee requesting the return
of sales tax funds. Said letter required the signatures of City Council
