The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called
to order by Mayor Johnson; Present were Councilmen Ed Rich, Ray
Duncan, Darrell McNeill, Hartley Beeler; Attorney Neil Fuller and
Clerk Dorotha McGee.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
The bills were presented to the Council as follows:

Ed Rich moved that the bills be paid; motion
seconded
Beeler and passed unanimously.

Darrell McNeill stated that he wants the park to be sprayed at an
earlier date this year, and he will also make an inspection of the new
park water line.
Councilman Rich led a discussion on the proposed signal lights for
Main Street and presented the proposal of Transportation Planning
& Engineering, Inc. for engineering on same. Mayor Johnson stated
that he will contactt Don West regarding his interest in submitting
a proposal for said engineering.

Councilman Heeler reported that he has been contacted by the P.U.D.
regarding the possibility of turning off some of the street lights
during the energy crisis. He has not yet decided] which lights are
to be turned off.
'Neil Fuller presented a proposal for the hiring of a probation Officer
jointly with Douglas County. Attorney Fuller explained the duties
of a probation officer. Darrell McNeill stated that he feels that
the Police Department has been allocated far too much of the City
funds already. Councilmen Rich & Duncan both stated that they feel
a study should be made for the future. Neil Fuller stated that he
would leave the proposal with the Clerk and Councilmen may obtain it
for study.
Darrell McNeill'told the Council that th'e City needs to make a study
of the parking and travel situation ofi French Street. Parking on
one side of the street only, parking prohibited and stripping the
street were discussed as possibilities for releaving the problem.
Neil Fuller will check the legality of prohibiting parking on both
sides of the street and report to the Council.
Darrell McNeill presented the names of Forrest Lannoye, Roger Dillon
and Mrs. Randle for the -vacant position of the City Council, Mayor
Johnson proposed Thomas White.for said position.
Arthur Johnson presented a porposal for car washes.
Ed Rich moved that the meeting be adjourned; motion seconded by
Ray Duncan and passed by a unanimous vote.
