March 20th, 1978
' The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to
order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Ray Duncan,
Darrell McNeil, Ed Rich, Hartley Beeler, Evan Sperline; Attorney
Neil Fuller and Clerk, Peggy Petersen.
Corrections to the minutes were as follows: (1) Discussion by the
City Council in reference to a drainage culvert requested by Frank
Johnson. Evan Sperline asked to be eliminated from any further
discussion. Authorization was given to purchase 6 dozen cones for
stripping rather than 3 dozen. Bills were approved as submitted.
Motion by Darrell McNeil, seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously.
Bids for a Police car were opened. The following companies submitted
bids: Leonard Evans Chrysler -Plymouth (1978 Plymouth Volare for $6,431.36)
North Central Chevrolet Co., (1978 Chevrolet 4 dr., Nova for $6,309.63).
Authorization was given by the Council to purchase the 1978 Nova providing
it meets specifications. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, Seconded by
Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. (Mayor Lannoye will contact
North Central Chevrolet Co.,).
Park Committee Chairman, Darrell McNeil will check on the topping of
trees in the park.
Councilman Ray Duncan said the shop building will be sprayed as soon
as possible by G.G. Richardson, Inc.
Councilman Evan Sperline was appointed to head a committee on annexation.
He asked the Council to think of names for a commission for annexation.
It was suggested that this list of names include both people within
the City limits and outside the City limits. Councilman Sperline said
he would like as many names as possible by the next Council meeting.
Motion was made by Ed Rich and seconded by Darrell McNeil to adopt
Ordinance No 261 and 262. Passed unanimously.
There was discussion in length on the signal light at 5th and Main.
Mayor Lannoye read a letter from Valley Electric in reference to lower-
ing the existing fixture at a cost to the City of $260.00. Hartley
Beeler made a motion that the City pay half of this charge and Arvid
Grant & Associated pay half. Three Council members were in favor,
two opposed. Motion passed.
Authorization was given to Valley Electric for a 4th pedestrian cross
walk at 5th and Main at a cost to the City of $962.00, plus tax.
Motion was made by Evan Sperline, seconded by Ed Rich and passed
unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye said he would contact Mr. Dillon and Eddie Mays to get
their comments on Teleprompter's Cable T. V. Commercial rate change.
' An Ordinance to repeal and adopt the 1976 Uniform Plumbing Code will
be drafted and presented to the City Council by Attorney Neil Fuller.
A second signal light at 6th and Main was discussed. There will be
further discussion at the next regular Council Meeting.
