HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/16/1979 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING ' Oct. 16, 1979 Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem, Evan Sperline. The following Council members were present. Hartley Beeler, Ed Rich, Darrell McNeill, Ray Duncan and City Clerk, Peggy McArthur. Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as presented. Motion made by Ed Rich, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Hartley Beeler, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Councilman, Hartley Beeler suggested that the council members look at llth & Devon and llth & Eastmont for the possibility of street lights at these intersections, and give their opinion. Councilman, Darrell McNeill suggested that a parking area be made behind the City Hall. He said he didn't feel it would distract from the city park. No action was taken at this time. ' Mayor, pro tem, Evan Sperline stated that the council received a letter from the Department of Revenue saying they have redistributed $8,013.48 from the Ctiy of Wenatchee to East Wenatchee due to incorrect coding on Excise Tax Returns. Seven businesses have been Coding incorrectly, and have all been contacted by the Department of Revenue advising them of the correct code for East Wenatchee. The preliminary Budget was presented to the Council by the City Clerk. Ed Rich made a motion to accept the Preliminary Budget, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. A motion was made by Darrell McNeill to set the final budget hearing one hour earlier than the regular meeting time (7:00 P.M.) Dec. 4th. Seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. Mayor, Pro Tem, Evan Sperline read a letter from Wanda Martin, President of East Wenatchee District Chamber of Commerce, stating the Chamber's approval to change the name of Main Street to Valley Mall Parkway. Also a letter was presented to the Council from the Wenatchee Valley Mall Merchant's Association. After some discussion, ' Mayor, Pro Tem, Evan Sperline asked for a five minute recess to discuss a time and place for public meeting to hear the matter. The meeting was called back to order with the Council's decision that a public meeting be held in the Douglas County P.U.D. Auditorium (if available) Monday, Oct. 23rd at 7:00 P.M.
