HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/19/1980 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING May 19, 1980 ' Meeting was called to order by Mayor, Forrest Lannoye. The following council members were present - Ray Duncan, Darrell McNeill, John Plfugrath, Ed Rich and Hartley Beeler. City Attorney Neil Fuller and City Clerk Peggy McArthur. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by John Plfugrath and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Hartley Beeler, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Dan Reeves asked if a fence in the park next to the Highway could be removed. It serves no purpose and is difficult to mow around. Permission was granted by the Council. Councilman John Plfugrath said he contacted another Co. concerning insulation of City Hall and recieved no quote. The Council advised him to have the work done by Overhead Door. Two Bids were opened for resurfacing of Greenbriar. S. & D. Paving in the amount of 6,350.00. Morrill Asphalt's bid was in the amount of 8,198.32. Motion was made by Ed Rich to accept the low bid of S. & D. Seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously. ' Authorization License Fees) was given by the Council Motion was made by Ray to adopt Ordinance Duncan, seconded by No. 295 Ed Rich (Amending Business and passed unanimously. New appointments to the Board of Adjustment were Dick McGraw and Heber Kennedy. These positions were held by Ed Dillon and S. H. Taylor. Present members, whose positions expired were appointed alin to serve two year terms. They are as follows: George Ulin, Larry Johnson and Don Telford. The Council asked the City Clerk to write and Thank both Ed Dillion and Stuart Taylor for their years of service on the Board. Ordinance No. 296 (Ammending Ordinance No. 265 & repealing Ordinance No. 267) was adopted by the Council. Motion was made by John Pflugrath, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. The Council asked Mayor Lannoye to contact the County to see if they would consider deeding Hamilton St. to Baker and 9th St. to 5th St. on Baker to the City. The Council agreed to sell one of the surplus police Matadors locally for 850.00. This was the price Custom Carriage has offered the City for the surplus car. Permission was given by the Council to allow Safeway Stores, Inc. to hook up to the City's Storm drain. Aughorization was given by the Council to adopt Resolution No. 80-2 (creation of a flood control zone district within Douglas County.) Motion was made by Ed Rich, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously.
