HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/20/1980 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING Feb. 20, 1980 ' Councilmen present were as follows: Darrell McNeill, John Pflugrath, Hartley Beeler and Ed Rich. Peggy McArthur, City Clerk. Motion was made by Darrell McNeill to appoint Ed Rich as Mayor Pro-tem in the absence of Mayor, Forrest Lannoye. Seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Pro-tem, Ed Rich. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Darrell McNeill, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted with the exception of a coucher to R. L. Hamilton in the amount of 295.67 for a plan cabinet. The Council stated they would pay only the amount which Mr. Hamilton had quoted earlier which was 227.42. Motion was made by Hartley Beeler to pay all bills with this one correction, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. There was some discussion about snow and ice on the sidewalks and some parking problems on Clements Circle. ' The following bids were opened for a sander. Sahlberg Equip., Inc., 5,516.00 plus tax and 810.00 for mounting. Truckweld - 5,039.60 plus tax, 1,050.00 for installation. Sahlberg Equip. Inc. 4,950.00 plus tax, 810.00 installation. Washington Auto carriage, 5,304.50, 1,228.00 installation. Southpark Ind. Inc. 4,544.75, installation 400.00. The Council postponed making the award until March 3rd to give them time to review the specifications. Motion was made by John Pflugrath, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Authorization was given by the Council to hire a CETA maintenance person. Motion was made by Darrell McNeill, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Authorization was given by the Council to hire a CETA Patrolman to replace Richard Perkins. The Ceta person will have to meet the minimum Civil Service Requirements as set forth by the Civil Service Board. Motion was made by John Pflugrath, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. Darrell McNeill said he would attend a Department of Transportation meeting to be held at the Country Inn March 6th at 7:30 A.M. Hiram Thomas 400.00 Permission was given by the Council to advance Officer out of advance travel fund to attend a training school in Seattle.
