HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/1/1981 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCouncil Meeting June 1, 1981 Councilmen present: Ray Duncan, Darrell McNeill, John Pflugrath, Ed Rich and Hartley Beeler. City Administrator, Dick McGraw and Peggy McArthur, City Clerk. Meeting was called to order by Mayor, Forrest Lannoye. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were accepted as submitted. Motion was made by Darrell McNeill, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Ray Duncan said he found a new water leak on 13th Street. Dan Reeves was asked to look into this. Street openings were again discussed. Dick McGraw said he would check with the City of Wenatchee, Chelan County and Douglas County to see what they charge for opening a street and the length of time the party is responsible for its condition. Clerk was asked to put on agenda for June 15th. Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Hartford Insurance Co. They made the following recommendations. (1) Explosion proof wiring should be installed in the s hip where the paint is stored, and also in the gas pump storage sheds outside of City Hall. (2) The City lots on Valley Mall Parkway should be regraded to minimize tripping hazards from bumps and holes in the lots. They asked for a reply to these recommendations within 45 days. 'Dan Reeves was asked to take the measurements of the two lots and get a cost estimate for blading and blacktopping and report back at the next meeting. Mayor Lannoye said he would check with the State Electrial Inspector concerning the wiring. A heating and cooling unit was tabled at this time as John Pflugrath asked to have time to check over the bids from the previous unit and talk to the Engineer who submitted a quote of 2,035.00 for a unit for the middle office. John Plfugrath said he would get back to the Mayor within a few days. Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Douglas County Fire District No. 2 urging the Council to contact the Survey & Rating Bureau to consider the City of East Wenatchee's fire rating. The City has not beedgraded since 1967 the letter stated and vast�improve- ments in both water supply and fire services have been made. Mayor Lannoye said he would talk with the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall and draft a letter to the Bureau asking them to re-evaluate the City and prehaps lower the rate. Chief Brooks asked for permission to have the carpet in the police station repaired. Dan Reeves was asked to look at it and see if it could just be reglued. There being no further business, Hartley Beeler made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously.
