Mar. 1, 1982
Coucnilmen present: Darrell McNeill, Ed Rich, Ray Duncan and Hartley Beeler.
City Attorney, Neil Fuller and City Clerk, Peggy McArthur.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor, Forrest Lannoye.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by
Ray Duncan, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously.
Bills and accounts were approved as submitted with a voucher to State Security
Systems for a safe to come out of City Hall Bldg. Fund. Motion was made by Ed Rich,
seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously.
Hartley Beeler said he would check out a light that was out on the est side of Rock
Island Road.
The Council reviewed several logos they received and it was suggested that Ed
Rich take the designs to the Chamber luncheon on Tuesday as they have a proposed
sign they are planning to have made for East Wenatchee and the Council may wish to
employ the same design. Clerk was asked to put this back on the agenda.
Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance No. 327 (reimbursement
for mileage set a 18 cents per mile for the year 1982. Motion was made by Ray Duncan,
' seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously.
The Council asked Attorney Neil Fuller to draft an amended Business License Ordiance
to enable a business to purchase a license for six months if the person opens a
business after Dec. 31st of each year. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded
by Ed Rich and passed unanimously.
There was much discussion again concerning the proposed Douglas County Rez¢ne.
The Mayor and Council went on record opposing more commercial zoning in the area
and a letter to that effect will be send to the Douglas County Planner.
The Mayor and two council members stated they would be attending a breakfast at the
Four Seasons, March 17th at 7:00 A.M.
Authorization was given by the council to appoint John Allen to the Board of
Adjustment to replace Don Telford. The City Clerk was asked to write a note to
Mr. Telford thanking him for his many years of service. Motion was made by
Darrell McNeill, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye said the Department of Transportation may be contacting the City
for the use of the sweeper under the bridge. The Council agreed that a City
Employee would operate the sweeper. Ed Rich said he would check with the Department
regarding this matter.
' It was agreed by the Council to wait until preparing the 1983 budget to enter into
a maintenance agreement with Central Communications as per thier agreement, as
Chief Brooks didn't anticipate any serious problems for the rest of the year and
did not include a monthly rate in his budget for 1982.
