HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/19/1983 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING Dec. 19, 1983 Members present: John Pflugrath, Hartley Beeler, Ray Duncan, Ed Rich and Darrell McNeill. Attorney Neil Fuller and City Clerk, Peggy McArthur. Meeting was called to Order by Mayor, Forrest Lannoye. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye explained the voucher to Bob Crawford. He stated that he dismissed Mr. Crawford effective Oct. 31st and Joel Goplin was appointed Probation Officer November 1st. Mayor Lannoye said he and the Court Clerk reviewed all of the cases turned over to them by Mr. Crawford and he was compensated for monies wheich had been collected from clients. He said as monies, if any, come in from clients prior to Nov. lst. Mr. Crawford will be compensated for those collections. John Pflugrath asked Neil Fuller if any action had been taken concerning the shop roof. Neil said he has the Judgement read against A-1 roofing. The big problem he stated, is finding the person so papers can be served. As soon as he is served, the Bonding Company can take over.if judgement is not rendered. ' Authorization was given by the Council to accept the loader bid of Inland Machinery for a Caterpillar at a total cost of 50,288.50 with standard paint. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. Ray explained to the Council, that he and Bob Goodman looked at all of the machines that were available. He stated, they took into consideration price, quality, service, availability of parts, where the machine was made, if the company was well established and delivery. Delivery should be six to eight weeks. The Council advised the salesman that they would be looking at serial numbers to determine that the machine is new as they will not accept an old machine. Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance 357 (1984 Salary Ordinance) Motion was made by John Pflugrath, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. The Council reviewed a letter from Sgt. Harold Kirby asking for one and one-half days comp time if an officer has to work on a holiday. Mayor Lannoye suggested this was only fair as the street dept is compensated for any time over 8 hours. The Council agreed this request was fair. However, no comp time will be allowed for overtime until the officer has worked 60 hours per week. Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance 358 (1984 Final Budget) Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously.
