HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/21/1983 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING Nov. 21, 1983 tMembers present: Ed Rich, Hartley Beeler, Ray Duncan, Darrell McNeill and John Pflugrath. City Attorney, Neil Fuller and Peggy McArthur, City Clerk. Meeting was called to Order by Mayor, Forrest Lannoye. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. Ray Duncan said the new truck has gone back to the Coast and should be back in East Wenatchee by Tuesday or Wednesday. Mayor Lannoye said after advertising the 1956 International in the Nickle, an offer of 2,000.00 has been made. The Council agreed this was a fair price. Neil Fuller said he had not recieved an answer to his letter to A -I Roofing of Brewster concerning the metal roof that is leaking. The rain has caused considerable damage to the shop. He stated if he does not hear from him in the near future the City can proceed against his bonding company. ' Jim Conner, President of the Council on Aging gave a presentation of their activities. He stated they have three programs, Transportation, Nutrition and Retired Senior Volunteer. He said Grants have been reduced substantially for 1984 and requested 3,065.00 from the City to help fund the programs. Don MacLean, Director of the Council said they do not want to cut services but without assistance from the Cities and Counties, they will have no other choice. The Council said the would consider this request at their budget workshop. Kimball Smith, Manager of the Four Seasons Inn gave a presentation on the activities of the Cascade Loop and requested 20% of the 1982 Stadium tax monies (3,216.49) to promote tourism. He said their organization would like to print 60 thousand tourist guides in 1984. Dave Jenkins, President of Four Seasons Inn said he feels the Cascade Loop has a very good brochure that is not ending up in the garbage can and is bringing a lot of tourists into the area. Ray Duncan, as in the past, again expressed his disappointment in the map which shows only one route into East Wenatchee. He stated it should show the bridge at Chelan and also the Olds Bridge. After much discussion, Mr. Smith said he would come back in a few weeks with a new map and if the Council is satisfied, the will consider the request at that time. The Council accepted the bid of the Wenatchee World for Legal Advertising for ' 1984. The Council stated they almost have to advertise with a daily paper. Motion was made by Ed Rich, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed unanimously.
