HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/21/1983 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING March 21, 1983 Councilmen present: John Pflugrath, Ray Duncan, Darrell McNeill, Hartley Beeler. City Attorney, Neil Fuller and City Clerk, Peggy McArthur. Meeing was called to Order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by John Plfugrath and passed unanimously. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. Leasing of the old shop building was again discussed. Councilman Duncan stated he was still concerned about the paint shop. It was also brought out that there were no restrooms or water available. It was the consensus of the Council to not rent the shop at this time. It was recommended by the Council that Tom White of 1220 N. Baker serve oni the Planning Commission. Motion was made by Hartley Beeler, seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously. The Council received bids for the police car from the following: Ted Finkbeiner, 1983 Buick Skylark 10,544.40, less trade-in of 1.00. 1983 Pontiac 10,089.94, ' less trade-in of 1.00. Cascade Chevrolet, Chevrolet Citation 10,165.00, less trade-in of 665.00. Total price plus tax, 9,500.00. Ray Ducan made a motion that that the bid be awarded at the next council meeting. The motion died from lack of a second. John Plfugrath made a motion that the low bid from Cascade Chevrolet be accepted if all specifications met with the approval of the Chief of Police, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously. The week of April llth was declared Eastmont Swim Week by Mayor Lannoye and Members of the Council after a short presentation by members of the team stating some of their activities. Motion was made by Darrell McNeill, seconded by John Pflugrath and passed unanimously. Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance No. 349 (An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 304 and 312) reducing admission taxes from 2 1/2 percent to 1 percent, effective April 1, 1983. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by Darrell McNeill and passed by Hartley Beeler. John Plfugrath said no questions and no comment. Mayor Lannoye directed Mike Mercy to give the City Clerk a check for all unpaid taxes from 1981 to present as agreed. Mr. Mercy stated he would pay 2 1/2 percent for the month of March. Mr. Mercy advised the Council they are building two more theatres and hopefull they will be opening in mid June. Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance 350 (Amending portions of Ordinance 224, rules and regulations for establishment of the Civil Service Commission and procedures and guidelines) Motion was made by John Plfugrath, seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously.
