March 7, 1983
Councilmen present: Ed Rich, John Pflugrath, Hartley Beeler, Ray Duncan and
Darrell McNeill. City Attorney, Neil Fuller and Peggy
McArthur, City Clerk.
Meeting was called to order by Councilman, Ed Rich.
In the absence of Mayor Forrest Lannoye, Motion was made by Darrell McNeill to
appoint Ed Rich, Mayor Pro-tem. Seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by
Ray Dunan, seconded by John Plfugrath and passed unanimously.
Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ray Duncan,
seconded by Hartley Beeler and passed unanimously.
Darrell McNeill said there was a light out on the corner of 14th street. Hartley
Beeler said he would report it to P.U.D.
Mayor Pro-tem Ed Rich stated there was some interest in renting the shop building
vacated by the street department. Ray Duncan pointed out that the traffic paint
isstored there and special requirments had to be met to meet insurance standards.
Moving the paint to the new shop location, might present a problem and some additional
' cost to the City to fix up a new area. Bob Goodman was asked to check the matter out
with the Fire Marshall and the matter be will be back on the agenda at the next
meeting.
Ordinance No. 247 (Vacating a right of way street within the the City limits) was
adopted by the Council. Motion was made by Ray Duncan, seconded by John Plfugrath
and passed unanimously.
Authorization was given by the Council to adopt Ordinance No. 348 (Amending
Ordinance No. 239 of the City of East Wenatchee for the purpose of expanding upon
the permissable uses of monies collected from Hotel/Motel Taxes) Motion was made
by John Pflugrath, seconded by Ray Duncan and passed unanimously.
The Council called for bids for a new 1982 or 1983 dump truck. Bids to be opened
April 4th.
Dick McGraw, representing the East Wenatchee District Chamber of Commerce
presented the Council with a letter requesting any and all permits needed for
activities to be held at a fund festival, July 29 to July 31st. He also presented
the Council with a map showing the parade route intended. Neil Fuller said he would
check into the matter. Neil Fuller did state that any vendors would need a City
business license.
The Council gave Chief Brooks permission to attend a two day stress management
seminar to be held in Seattle March 24th and 25th. Chief Brooks said he thought
the room would be paid for by the Commission. He would need money for gas and
meals.
