July 2, 1984
Councilmen present: Ed Rich, Ray Duncan, Bill Tarver and Fred Ross. Attorney,
Neil Fuller and Peggy McArthur, City Clerk.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor, Don Crain.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by
Ray Duncan, seconded by Bill Tarver and passed unanimously.
Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Ed Rich,
seconded by Bill Tarver and passed unanimously.
Chief Brooks said the torch run will come through East Wenatchee approximately at
9:30 Wed. Night and could probably be seen from the Four Seasons. He also stated,
that he will be on vacation most of the month of July and Officer Kirby will be in
charge.
Neil Fuller stated Huls construction is having a difficult time getting bonded for
75,000 and this has held up the contract for the demolition of the school. Neil
said he is willing to get the bond in the amount of his bid and put up the rest
in cash or property. Neil said he was still trying with two other companies and
he should know something by Friday of this week. Mayor Crain asked Neil to notify
him as soon as he hears from Mr. Hul.
' Neil said the judgement on the Bond for the shop roof should be forthcoming and
the City should receive 4,000.00 very shortly.
Bob Goodman said the roof is leaking badly and also after the last rain, the roof
at City Hall fell in, in one area.
The Council authorized to call for bids for the repair of the shop roof and a new
roof for City Hall, with said bids to be opened August 6, 1984. Motion was made
by Ray Duncan, seconded by Fred Ross and passed unanimously.
Two bids for paving were received for Five street projects. Morrill Asphalt
bid 94,450.00 with a sub -bid of 300.00 each for raising manholes and 100.00
for raising water boxes. Basin paving Co. bid 66,950.00, plus 2,950.00 to
raise utilities. Authorization was given by the Council to accept the low bids
of Basin paving for both paving and raising of utilities. Motion was made by
Ray Duncan, seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously for Paving. A second
motion motion for the raising of utilities was made by Fred Ross, with the
stipulation that the Sewer Dist. reimburse the City 164.00 for each manhole.
Seconded by Bill Tarver and passed unanimously.
Bob Goodman stated the Water District would raise their own utilities.
Mayor Crain said he still has heard nothing on the Court consolidation. Fred Ross
said he felt the City should make a move to get something accomplished. Neil Fuller
said he had heard from Judy McCauley and she has been working on a proposal. Neil
said he would give her a call and the City should have something by the next meeting.
Members of the Boundary Review Board have invited the Ctiy Council to meet with
them July 18, at 7:30 PM. to discuss any problems the City and County may have
or clear up any misunderstandings. The City Clerk was asked to contact the
