HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/16/1990 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesEAST WENATCHEE, DOUGLAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CONVENED MAYOR RICHARD MCGRAW PRESIDING July 16, 1990 6:30 P.M. (This meeting was recorded and will be retained at City Hall for a period of six years from the date of the meeting.) Councilmembers Present: Councilmember McArthur, Councilmember Hendricks, Councilmember Cassel, Councilmember McKee, Councilmember Collings. Councilmember Cassel arrived at 6:37 p.m. Staff Present: Gini Oestreich, Charles Zimmerman, Nick Wiltz, John Flinner, Bruce Nash, Bob Goodman. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES: Regular Session, July 2, 1990. Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Hendricks, , second by Councilmember McArthur to approve the minutes as read. The motion carried, 5-0. CONSIDERATION OF BILLS Vouchers audited and certified by the auditing officer as required by RCW 42.24.080, and those expense reimbursement claims certified as required by RCW 42.24.090, have been recorded on a listing which has been made available to Council. As of this date, July 16, 1990, the Council does approve for payment voucher numbers 10971 through 10999, and voucher numbers 3077 through 3102, in the amount of $136,358.15. Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember McKee, second by Councilmember McArthur to approve the bills as presented. The motion carried, 5-0. DEPARTMENT REPORTS Code Enforcement Code Compliance Officer Wiltz reported the building permit for I the ARCO AM/PM Mini Mart had been issued. Mr. Wiltz asked Council to review the proposed Ordinance adopting the Uniform Building Code. He said he would be polling other cities of like size to determine their opinions related to the proposed building code changes. - 1 - 1 PUBLIC HEARING 90-7-3 A public hearing relating to changing the names of Rock Island Road to Valley Hall Parkway South and Highline to Eastmont South within the city limits Mayor McGraw opened the public hearing at 6:36 p.m. No one spoke and Mayor McGraw closed the public hearing. Mayor McGraw said he had met with the County Commissioners regarding the name changes. City Attorney Zimmerman reminded Council that the city could not take any action on the portions of the streets outside of the city limits. The second public hearing will be held on August 6, 1990. Council Action: None was taken. MAYOR'S REPORT City Attorney Zimmerman gave each Councilmember a copy of an agreement with the City of East Wenatchee and the Briar Corporation regarding the proposed Grant Road Viewpoint addition. Mayor McGraw said the contract contained the issues needed for the city to proceed with the park addition; and he added hopefully portions of the items needed would be donated from local sources.
