HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/5/1988 - City Council - City Council Meeting Minutes (2)City of East Wenatchee Council Meeting July 5, 1988 I Council Members present: Dawn Collings, Tery McKee, Les Young and Paul Castel. Attorney Chuck Zimmerman and Peggy McArthur, City Clerk. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard McGraw. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. Motion was made by Tery McKee, seconded by Les Young and passed by vote of the Council. Bills and accounts were approved as submitted. Motion was made by Paul Cassel, seconded by Les Young and passed by vote of the Council. Nick Wiltz said the Planning Board had met concerning fence requirements and the Council would be receiving their recommendation of rear and side fence recommendations in the near future so that a Public Hearing can be set before the City Council. The Boards recommendation for heights of rear and side fences to be a maximum of six feet. Acting Chief Randy Harrison advised the Council that officer Gary Miller would be leaving the deparment as he is moving back to Grandview. He said Ray Yarnell, now employed at Brewster would be hired starting July 18th. Mr. Yarnell was one of the top three applicants tested by the Civil Service Commission during the last testing. Randy Harrison said Bruce Nash received funding to attend a DARE conference in Los Angles. The only cost to the City, he stated would be for some meals and that ' cost could come out of the Drug Fund. Council persons Tery McKee and Dwan Collings gave short reports on information obtained at the Association of Washington Cities Convention in Tacoma. Tery McKee said he, Bob Burke and Jerry Litt have been working on getting some Inter Local Agreements prepared. He stated it was very important that there be cooperation to implement flood control and other issues that that take joint cooperation. He said a draft of the agreement would be forthcoming to the Council for their review. Dawn Collings said she attended some very interesting workshops on resolving conflicts and promoting your City. She said there were some good ideas the City could carry out. There being no further business, Dawn Collings made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.
