HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/10/1987 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesCITY OF EAST WENATCHEE CONTINUED BUDGET WORKSHOP Nov. 10, 1987 Council Members present: Tery McKee, Paul Cassel, Les Young and Richard McGraw. Meeting was called back into session for the purpose of continuing the Budget Workshop of November 9, 1987 by Mayor Pro-Tem, Richard McGraw. Police salaries were discussed. Paul Cassel said he would like to bring law enforcement officers into parity with Wenatchee Officers. Terry McKee said he felt there should be additional money added for shift differential for the police officers. The police also asked for reimbursement for cost of education upon completion of college courses. Paul Cassel said he didn't feel the City should pay for officers education. After much discussion, the Council agreed to a 6% salary increase for police and the Chief of Police - 1,000.00 to be added to training for college classes if job related. The police would have to get permission form the Council before attending classes if they wished to be reimbursed and a shift differential pay of $10.00 per month for Swing, $20.00 per month for Graveyard and $30.00 per month for relief shift. The Council also approved $4,000.00 for a part time records clerk and suggested that the police check with Pentab and half the salary would be paid by them. The Council also stated that the same records clerk could work for Code Compliance Officer when needed. Richard McGraw agreed to look into the possibilities of a different medical plan that would prehaps give better dependent coverage. The Council agreed to raise the Cide Compliance Officer's salary 70.00 per month as the City pays no medical insurance for that position and then to give that position a 6 percent salary increase. Tery McKee asked that $20,000.00 be added to the Planning budget for consulting services for 1988 and another $5,000.00 be added to miscellaneous for ongoing planning. Paul Cassel said he would like to keep adding something to the building fund. It was agreed by the Council to raise street department employees salaries 6 percent and also to increase the salaries of City Clerk and Deputy Clerk by 6 percent. There being no further business, Tery McKee made a motion that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Les Young and asked unanimously. R char McGraw, Mayor Pro-Tem City Clerk'
