' MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Collings asked Council if they had decided which Council Committee they wanted to be on. She said appointments would be made this week. Mayor Collings said she had received one proposal for the public defender contract which was from the city's present public defender, Steve Zimmerman Law Offices. Council accepted this proposal. Mayor Collings said the contract with Waste Management had been signed and she would have it available for the next meeting. Mayor Collings listed the meetings for the week: Tuesday, 12:00 p.m. the East Wenatchee Chamber; Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. Douglas County Transportation and Land Services, a meeting in Waterville regarding an excise tax on vehicles. Mayor Collings said she had received an invoice for the 1996 voter's registration, and the total was twelve hundred dollars more than she had budgeted. Mayor Collings said she talked to the Douglas County Auditor's Office about the total calculation and was told there was no way to predict an exact figure or how the money was distributed prior to an actual election count. She added the City of East Wenatchee had one thousand nine more registered voters in 1996, probably due to the presidential election. ' ADJOURNMENT -- 7:30 P.M. E-, e2 Virg is E.
