Wenatchee Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau representative David Jenkins introduced Executive
Director Clint Hyde of the WVCVB.
' PRESENTATION
Washington State World War II Memorial representative Fred Langston said he was soliciting support to
complete the seven hundred thousand dollars needed to create a Washington State World War 11
Memorial in Olympia. Mr. Langston showed a brief video of the World War II images and the site where
the memorial would be built. He added the amount raised to date was five hundred fifty thousand dollars.
Council agreed by consensus not to allocate public funds to the World War II Memorial.
Councilmember Nash and Mayor Lacy complimented the efforts and the sacrifices of the World War II
veterans.
MAYOR'S REPORT
Mayor Lacy said he had presented a proclamation to the Applarians on November 14. He added the
Applarians are the official host of the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival.
Mayor Lacy said the Wenatchee Valley Visitor and Convention Bureau's first Executive Director will set
the budget and set the agendas. He added it would be beneficial if the proposed Sports Council, the East
Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce, the Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce and the Wenatchee Valley
Convention and Visitors Bureau would all consider working together to support the activities and
tourism in the valley.

ORDINANCE
98-11-03 First reading of an ordinance setting property tax levies for 1999
Mayor Lacy read first reading of the ordinance.

98-11-03 Chelan and Douglas Counties Senior Meals
Mayor Lacy said the Senior Meals program is an allowable and worthwhile program for the community.
After a brief discussion, based on previous requests, Council agreed to take no action at this time.
COUNCIL REPORTS
Councilmember Aiken reported on LINK transit. He said LINK is restructuring routes for more efficient
use and time. He said several routes will be two way routes and they will run every thirty minutes rather
than once an hour. He added a new study will take place for a transfer site for East Wenatchee.
Councilmember Buckner said he had attended the Diversity Workshop at the North Central Washington
Museum on Saturday. He said the workshop was well attended and offered excellent information on
cultural diversity.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Union Negotiations, Personnel Issue
Mayor Lacy called a twenty minute executive session regarding union negotiations and a personnel issue.

Mayor Lacy extended the executive session another ten minutes.
RECONVENED-- 8:30 P.M.
BUDGET DISCUSSION
Budget items discussed included street expenditures and property taxes.
