LACY PRESIDING NOVEMBER 2,1998 6:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Councilmembers Present: Councilmember Carson, Councilmember Aiken, Councilmember Buckner, Councilmember Hendricks, Councilmember Nash, Councilmember Mikow, Councilmember Stanton Mayor Lacy. Staff Present: Harry Staven, Dana Barnard, Linda Countryman, Bob Goodman, Randy Harrison, Darin Bender. Chuck Zimmerman. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE CITIZEN COMMENTS Advisory Committee on Cultural Relations Representative Cindy O'Mera said the committee will be holding a workshop on Saturday, November 14, at the North Central Washington Museum. She said the workshop will be free to the public and will cover individual approaches to Diversity, including: Language, Communication Style, Values and Assumptions and Cultural Adaptation. She added the committee would like Council to consider supporting the group by participation at the workshop and/or funding for future workshops. Mayor Lacy thanked Ms. O'Mera for her presentations. He added there are state constitutional prohibitions regarding the allocation of public funds, which read as follows: No county, city, town or other municipal corporation shall hereafter give any money, or property, or loan its money, or credit to or in aid of any individual, association, company or corporation, except for the support of the poor and infirm, or become directly or indirectly the owner of any stock in or bonds of any association, company or corporation. Mr. Lacy said he would like to attend the workshop and become involved in the program. He added he would like to see the Committee on Cultural Relations become a more broad based group to serve all of the valley. MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Lacy welcomed Harry Staven, the first City Administrator for the City of East Wenatchee. Mayor Lacy said he had spent three to four hours working to clean up Morris Park on Saturday. October 24, for Make a Difference Day.
