REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CONVENED

ROLL CALL
Councilmembers Present: Councilmember Mikow, Councilmember Nash, Councilmember Hendricks,
Councilmember Buckner, Councilmember Carson, Councilmember Stanton, Mayor Lacy.
Councilmember Aiken excused.
Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Nash, second by Councilmember Hendricks to
excuse Councilmember Aiken from this Council meeting. The motion carried 6-0.
Staff Present: Harry Staven, Dana Barnard, Linda Countryman, Randy Harrison, Darin Bender, Bruce
Nash, Christy Patterson, Chuck Zimmerman.

CITIZEN COMMENTS
City Administrator Staven said there has been a work party scheduled for the community park. He said
everyone was welcome to join. The event will be held Wednesday, May 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
City Administrator Staven said a blood draw has been scheduled at City Hall on June 2, from 3:00 p.m. to
7:00 p.m.
PRESENTATIONS
Kids First representative Mark Spurgeon gave a presentation of the program. He said the program focus is
to improve the lives of kids in the community. He added the Eastmont Junior High students took a survey
pertaining to assets used in their daily lives. Mr. Spurgeon shared the results of the survey and compared
the results with the national aggregate, the results from the Junior High School students were similar in all
areas.
Center Oak Properties representatives Fred Bruning and Jean Paul Wardy said their company has
purchased the Wenatchee Valley Mall and Valley North Mall. Mr. Bruning said that by owning both
malls they hope to benefit both cities. He added they are soliciting ideas for both malls in order to follow
the vision of the community. Mr. Bruning said they have received letters of intent for tenants and they
hope to announce who those tenants will be in the next thirty days.
Mayor Lacy asked if Center Oak Properties would be willing to be part of a committee with
Councilmembers as a communication vehicle with the mall.
Councilmember Stanton asked what stumbling blocks exist at this time. Mr. Bruning said they are
working to relocate Food Depot. He added they would like to start on a plan in the next five months and
have the plan completed in two years.
