REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CONVENED

FEBRUARY 28, 2000

ROLL CALL
Councilmembers Present: Councilmember Carson, Councilmember Aiken, Councilmember Hendricks,
Councilmember Stanton, Councilmember Nash, Councilmember DeWitt, Mayor Lacy. Councilmember
Buckner absent.
Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Aiken, second by Councilmember Nash to
excuse Councilmember Buckner from this Council meeting. The motion carried 6-0.
Staff Present: Dana Barnard, Linda Countryman, Randy Harrison, Bob Goodman, Teresa Allen, Jeff
Morrison, Chuck Zimmerman.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
CITIZEN COMMENTS
Veterans of Foreign Wars East Wenatchee Post #3617 Representative, Richard Engley, said the Post
would like to -donate the building and the property to the City of East Wenatchee. They would then lease
it back from the City for use as a community center. He added, according to the V.F.W. bylaws, the
Charter would be taken away, if the property was not gifted.
Mayor Lacy said he would speak to the members of the V.F.W. Post 3617 about the issue
Mr. Engley said he is the Chair of the patriotic committee in charge of requesting proclamations and
locating a speaker for the Memorial Day service. He asked the Council for suggestions.
MAYOR'S REPORT
Mayor Lacy said there will be a networking group meeting to discuss Economic Development in the
Greater Wenatchee Area. This meeting will be held at the Wenatchee Red Lion Inn on March 7, 2000 at
7:00 p.m.
Mayor Lacy said legal counsel is finalizing the lease purchase agreement between the City of East
Wenatchee and the owners of the Wenatchee Valley Mall. He added, it would be final and signed within
the next week.

Vouchers audited and certified by the auditing officer as required by RCW 42.24.080, and those expense
reimbursement claims certified as required by RCW 42.24.090, have been recorded on a listing that has
been made available to Council.
