LACY, PRESIDING AUGUST 27, 2001 6:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Councibmembers Present: Councilmember Nash, Councilmember DeWitt, Councilmember Hendricks, Councilmember Bremmer, Councilmember Smet, Councilmember Buckner and Mayor Lacy. Councilmember Aiken, excused. Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Bremmer, second by Councilmember Nash to excuse Councilmember Aiken. The motion carried, 6-0. Staff Present: Dana Barnard, Linda Countryman, Randy Harrison, Bob Goodman, Lori Barnett, Teresa Allen, Joan Sims, Bruce Nash and Chuck Zimmerman. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ' CITIZEN COMMENTS Keith Williams, director of the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center said the "Wenatchee Thunder' bike show and parade will be held Saturday, September 29th as a Washington Apple Harvest event. Mr. Williams asked Council to approve closure of the northbound lanes in the 800 block of Valley Mall Parkway, leaving the two southbound lanes open for two-way traffic. This would allow the north side of the street open for parking motorcycles for the bike show. Council discussed other options of street closures. Mayor Lacy suggested having the Police Chief and the Street Superintendent work together to come up with a workable street revision during the event. PRESENTATION Wenatchee Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Joyce Vognild gave a second quarter report for 2001. MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Lacy handed out Sister City brochures and shared a photo album of the Misawa Delegation's trip to Japan. Mayor Lacy said there was a formal signing of the Sister City Agreement similar to the ceremony held at Pangbom Airport in May 2001. He added the delegation participated in two parades. 1931 Mayor Lacy said businesses in Misawa use the P)g*historical flight of the Miss Veedol as the theme in the city for advertising. Mayor Lacy said he would like the City of East Wenatchee to create a better ' identity or theme such as the historical flight of Miss Veedol, which would invite recreational tourism to East Wenatchee.
