Dear Mayor Lacy,
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you, your family and the people of the cities of both
East Wenatchee and Wenatchee for the warmest welcome and hospitality extended to the 2001 Misawa
City delegation. We all had so wonderful time with you.
As you know, it is the 70`h anniversary year of the world's first non-stop transpacific flight by Miss
Veedol, also, the 20`h anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Wenatchee and Misawa. I was most
pleased to have visited your place in such a significant year. The signing for the agreement on the sister
city affiliation with East Wenatchee, which was the most highlighted event, was conducted with your
tremendous efforts and assistance. Thank you very much for everything.
The three cities, East Wenatchee, Wenatchee and Misawa, are tied with "the Bridge named friendship
across the Pacific Ocean". I promise you to make it a more stable and stronger one for the people of those
cities. I am very much looking forward to meeting again both you and Mayor Johnson in August.
Once again, thank you very much for your hospitality and best wishes to you, your family, the members
of the Wenatchee Valley Misawa Sister Association and the citizens of East Wenatchee and Wenatchee.
Very Respectfully,
Shigeyoshi Suzuki
Mayor
Misawa City
Councilmember Buckner commended City Treasurer Countryman for all her work on the 2000 Annual
Financial Report.
