Fire Chief Dave Baker and Fire Marshal Brian Bret introduced themselves and answered questions from City Council regarding safe and sane fireworks, illegal fireworks, illegal locations of discharge, and whether or not officials must witness the discharge of illegal fireworks in order to issue a citation. They indicated that current data does not support a ban of fireworks, and noted they get approximately 3-4 calls each year regarding illegal fireworks. PUBLIC COMMENT(S) Hope Schooley, 1119 Park Roy Place SE, gave an update regarding the votes received on her petition to ban fireworks in East Wenatchee and Wenatchee. She distributed a copy of the results and lists of signatures to Mayor Lacy and Council. Mayor Lacy thanked her and her family for having an interest in a fireworks ban, and bringing the issue forward for discussion regardless of the outcome. ' Finance Director Nick Gerde distributed and reviewed the minutes from the Budget Committee meeting held on November 19, 2014. He also submitted a list of budget items that arose after the Budget Committee meeting, which will have an impact on the budget. He noted this will be sent to Councilmembers before the next Council Meeting to review for approval. CONSENT CALENDAR Items listed below were distributed to Councilmembers in advance for study and were enacted in one motion. Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember McCourt, second by Councilmember Johnson, to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. The motion carried, 7-0. I . Consideration of Minutes —Regular Session, November 12, 2014 2. Consideration of Payables i. 2014 Payable — As of this date, November 25, 2014, Council does approve check numbers 42241 through 42242, and 42264 through 42326 in the total amount of $297,917.22. No checks were voided. PUBLIC HEARING(S) 14-11-05 A Public Hearing for the purpose of fixing the 2015 Final Budget, which has been filed with the City Clerk. A copy thereof will be furnished to any taxpayer by contacting the City Clerk's office. Any taxpayer may appear and be heard for or against any part of the budget. Councilmember Johnson accepted the offer. Councilmember Buckner reminded Council that they are all members of the Transportation Benefit District (TBD), and expressed that he would like all of them to attend the meeting on December 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Councilmember McCourt suggested we have a Christmas dinner for City employees, Mayor Lacy agreed.
