Lacy Councilmember George Buckner Councilmember Harry Raab Councilmember Frank Collings - Excused Councilmember Chuck Johnson - Excused Councilmember Wayne Barnhart - Excused Councilmember Sandra McCourt Councilmember Tim Detering EMPLOYEES IN ATTENDANCE City Attorney Devin Poulson City Clerk Dana Barnard Police Chief Randy Harrison Finance Director/Treasurer Nick Gerde Public Works Director/City Engineer Greg Pezoldt Clerical Assistant Shawn Munson PUBLIC COMMENTS Jan Lutz, Fundraising Co -Chair of the Independence Day Celebration Committee, noted that in participation with the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, they are seeking support from local jurisdictions, businesses, service clubs, and citizens in hopes of raising $250,000 for a community fund that would support an annual Independence Day Celebration beginning in 2015. She said they are asking the City of Wenatchee, City of East Wenatchee, Chelan County, and Douglas County to contribute $5,000 annually to the Independence Day Celebration Fund to provide a fun and safe event for the people in attendance. She noted that Kelly Kennedy of Impact Events will be organizing the celebration. Finance Director Nick Gerde noted that the Budget Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2014 was cancelled. The next scheduled meeting will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014. MAYORS REPORT Mayor Lacy noted that he supports the idea of an annual fireworks demonstration, and will review the request prior to making a decision about making a contribution. Mayor Lacy gave an update on a meeting he attended regarding the idea of a Fireworks Ban, which was attended by most Public and Fire Officials in the area. Presented by: Nick Gerde, Finance Director Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Detering, second by Councilmember Raab, to approve Resolution No. 2014-22; and to further authorize the establishment of a Health Reimbursement/Voluntary Employees' Beneficiary Association Plan. The motion carried, 4-0. Councilmember Detering noted that he attended the celebration for the Alaska Airlines 30th year of service at Pangbom Memorial Airport on September 3, 2014. ' Councilmember Buckner noted that he is unable to attend the NCW Economic Development District (NCW EDD) meeting in Chelan tomorrow. Councilmember Johnson is the alternate and is not able to attend. Councilmember Raab has volunteered to attend the meeting.
