This event will be held on July 26, 2014, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. next to the Aquatic Center. Hope Schooley, 1119 Parkroy Place, East Wenatchee, expressed the danger of fireworks to humans and animals. She said the debris from fireworks leaves a mess on other people's property as well as creating a threat of wildfires. She asked the City Council to consider banning fireworks in the City of East Wenatchee, and look into a way to have a community wide celebration with a safe display of fireworks. City Attorney Poulson noted that Douglas County Fire District No. 2 Fire Chief Dave Baker would also like the City to ban fireworks. He added that the East Wenatchee Police Department did issue a number of citations for illegal fireworks. Council agreed by consensus to bring the issue forward to a City Council meeting for further discussion and possible changes to the Municipal Code. Mayor Lacy thanked Ms. Schooley for her presentation. Check number 41414 was voided. 14-07-01 Permit to Enter Upon Real Property located at 473 5a' Street NE. Presented by: Steven C. Lacy, Mayor Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Detering, second by Councilmember McCourt, to authorize the Mayor to sign the Permit to Enter Upon Real Property located at 173 5°i Street NE. The motion carried, 6-0. RESOLUTION(S) 14-07-02 A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement modifying the Wenatchee Valley Transportation Council to serve as the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Regional Transportation Organization for Chelan and Douglas Counties. Presented by: Steven C. Lacy, Mayor Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Johnson, second by Councilmember Buckner, to authorize the Mayor to sign the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement. The motion carried, 6-0. Councilmember Detering noted that Link received the results from their annual audit and passed with no issues. He added that he will need an alternate to cover the Chamber of Commerce Board meeting and the Link Transit Board meeting next week. Councilmember Johnson said he recently met with Roger Clute who is interested in the Gateway Project and also making sure the City talks about destination marketing which included; Miss Veedol Replica, Apple Capital Loop Trail, Bridge of Friendship -Japanese Gardens, Wineries, Ice Age Flood Tours, Events, Eastmont Parks, Historic Columbia River Bridge, and Shopping.
