DEPARTMENT REPORT Finance Director Nick Gerde reviewed the Financial Report for March 2013. He reviewed a compilation of budget amendments that will be presented for approval at the April 23, 2013, Council meeting. He then reviewed the current Legislative status relating to Lodging Tax, City Business License System Bill, and Public Works Trust Fund. Mayor Lacy said there will be a Transportation Benefit District meeting at 6:00 p.m., April 23, 2013, prior to the City Council meeting. Mayor Lacy said he would like to schedule a tour with City Councilmembers and Planning staff sometime in May in order to look at the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) surplus properties along the river that the City may be interested in purchasing. Mayor Lacy noted that he had met with officials from the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Wenatchee and the Wenatchee Downtown Association regarding the new Branding for Wenatchee. They asked for input and discussed what role they saw East Wenatchee, Wenatchee, and various other organizations participating in with regards to the Branding process. Councilmember Johnson gave an update on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee meetings he attended on behalf of the City of East Wenatchee. He also noted that he has been lobbying with Municipal Research Services Center (MRSC) for the State to give back the monies from the Liquor Tax that used to go to Cities and Counties, noting that 90% of MRSC funding comes from those funds. He encouraged Councihnembers to contact City Attorney Poulson to discuss how useful the service is to Cities and Counties, as he is concerned we may lose this valuable service. Councilmember Detering said he attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Gesa Credit Union. Councilmember McCourt submitted a handout from the Homeless Steering Force meeting she attended on April 9, 2013, in which they are developing a Homeless Plan Strategy. Community Development Director Lori Barnett noted that the funds for the Homeless Housing Assistance come from fees paid to the County Auditor's for recording documents. She added there is an Interlocal Agreement with Douglas County, City of Wenatchee, and Chelan County in which the funds are pooled from, and then given to Wenatchee, as the Lead Agency, to go through the award process. 7:55 p.m. p1(1in6 . &A /10A -t' Dana Barnard City Clerk
