PUBLIC COMMENTS US Census Bureau representative Steve Passion gave an update regarding the 2010•Census. He read a letter from US Census Bureau Regional Director Ralph Lee thanking the City for partnering with the US Census Bureau to achieve a complete and accurate census count in 2010. He then presented Mayor Lacy with a Certificate of Appreciation. MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Lacy said he has been in negotiations with the Spirit of Wenatchee for the delivery of the Miss Veedol to Misawa, Japan for their September air show. 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of Japanese aviation, the 80th anniversary of the Miss Veedol Flight, the 30th anniversary of the Sister -City relationship with the City of Wenatchee and the loth anniversary of the joint Sister -City relationship with the City of Wenatchee and the City of East Wenatchee. Mayor Lacy said he has received notice from Misawa indicating that they have arranged the full financing to meet the terms of the Spirit of Wenatchee in order to be able to conduct this endeavor. As part of the contract, Misawa will get rights for promotion advertising of the Miss Veedol for a couple of years. Mayor Lacy said Douglas County has received the City's application for an events permit for the Sprint Boat Races. He assigned Mayor Pro -tern Buckner to preside over the remainder of the Council meeting. ORDINANCE 10-05-05 Second reading of amended Ordinance 2010-09. Presented by Community Development Director Lori Barnett. Council Action: A motion was made by Councilmember Hendricks, second by Councilmember Johnson, to adopt Ordinance No. 2010-09 with the suggested changes. The motion carried, 6-0. ORDINANCE NO. 2010-09 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EAST WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE EAST WENATCHEE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING NEW CHAPTERS 12.50 THROUGH 12.60 ADOPTING COMPREHENSIVE STREET STANDARDS, AMENDING CHAPTER 15.48 REQUIRED PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS, CHAPTER 16.20 DESIGN STANDARDS, CHAPTER 16.24 IMPROVEMENTS, AND CHAPTER 17.72 GENERAL REGULATIONS TO CONFORM THOSE CHAPTERS TO THE COMPREHENSIVE STREET STANDARDS, CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
