The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was
called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Council-
men John McDougall, John Wells, Art O'Neal, Clerk Dorotha McGee,
Police Chief Joe Carl, and Atty. Wm. Hamilton.
The minutes of the previous meeting* were read and stand ap-
proved as read.
The bills were presented to the Council as follows:

John Wells made a motion to pay the bills; John McDougall seconded
the motion. Passed by a unanimnus vote.
John McDougall stated that he has made a request to the P.U.D.
for the street lights at the Grant Fnad intersection. The P.U.D.
promised to contact the State Engineer on this matter, but
no' -answer has been received.
Mayor Lannoye stated that Mr. Fleming of the P.U.D. will present
a new rate on the street lights.
Mayor Lannoye reported that Joe Carl would like to appoint Bob
Case, Deputy Marshall, without pay, under The PRlice Training
Program. The Town would furnish uniforms, bond, holster, and
hat or cap and pay State Industrial Insurance and Medical Aid.
John Wells and John McDougall spoke in favor of this program;
Art O?Neal spoke in opposition. John Wells made a motion to
institute the trainee program, trainee to receive no compensa-
tion other than Industrial Insurance and Medical Aid for a period
of one (1) year, to be extended by Council. Motion was seconded
by John McDougall. Motion was passed by a majority vote. John
Wells and John McDougall voted in favor, opposed Art O?Neal.
Mr. Hamilton reported that he talked to the Sewer District
about the repair of the roads. They agreed that the reads will
be fixed when the weather allows.
Mr. Warren Crowe reported on the library. He suerested that
the City reappoint the following expired members on the library
board: Mrs. Arnold Jacobson, Mrs. Louise Buchanan, Glean Parks,
John Wells moved that these people be reappointed for five years
past the expired date of their terms. John McDougall seconded
the motion. Passed by a unanimous vote.
Mr. Crowe also stated that the Board would like to put up a
library sign. He also -asked permission to install the on the
library floor. This was generally approved by the Council.
Warren Crowe reported that a letter is being sent out to the
Friends of the Library and also all of the P.T.A.'s to try to
bring in some donations for the Library.
Mr. Keagle has made a request to the Council that they consider
his resignation due to illness in his family. No formal action
was taken.
John McDougall moved that the meeting be adjourned; John Wells
seconded that motion. Passed by a unanimous vote.
