HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/6/1966 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesJune 6, 1966 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen John Wells, John McDougall, Art OtNeal and Si Neher; Chief Joe Carl, Attorney Vim. Hamilton and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current Expense Warrants nos. 1992 - 2022 Joe H. Road Dept. 8.10 Security Bank of Wash. 75.00 Elder Auto Parts Inc. 4.41 Morrill Asphalt Laving Co., Inc. 19.15 John ,'yells made a motion.to pay the bills with the exception of the bill from Joe Earhart & Son. Art O'Neal seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous vote. The bill from Earhart & Son will be paid at such time as funds are received from the vtate Highway Dept. for the new Park addition. John dells made a motion to appoint Lawrence Letts to fulfill the unexpired term left vacant on the Town Council by the resignation of Lloyd Keagle. Motion was seconded ly John McDougall and passed by a unanimous vote. Councilman Letts will serve on the City Beautification Committee. Art O'Neal reported that work has been completed on the new Park addition. Mayor Lannoye stated that the State Highway Dept. has been notified of this fact. John a+ells reported on proposed street repairs for Ashland and First streets. Funds for these projects are not available at this time. A motion was made by John -vlells for a resolution to designate the following Streets within the Town limits as Arterial Streets: Main Street, Grant Road, Baker Ave. from 4th to 13th street, all of 5th street within the Town limits, all of 9th Street within the Town limits, all of llth Street within the Town limits, and all of First Street within the Town limits. Motion w.s seconded by John McDougall and passed by a unanimous vote. John McDougall reported that the lights have not been installed at the intersection of Main Street and Grant road. He also stated that six more street lights will be installed sometime v.7.thin the next month. Mayor Lannoye led a discussion un the proposed purchase of a new radar unit for the Police car. Mayor Lanno�;e stated that he felt a radar unit was very helpful for traffic control. Si Neher made a motion to purchase the new radar unit; motion was seconded by John McDougall and passed by a unanimous vote. John yells made a motion to allow a game table permit for Virg's Pocket Billiards, providin,ir that two months fees be paid in advance at all times. John McDougall seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous vote. Chief Joe Carl stated that lie has been notified by the Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney That no 5.00 limit card games would be tolerated in East 'denatchee. John arells made a motion that the Clerk be allowed two weeks vacation, not to exceed three weeks, with pay. John McDougall seconded the motion and it w�_s pas-ed by a unanimous vote. A discussion was held on the progress of City Codification at the present time. City Attorney Vdm. Hamilton expres:,ed his desire to terminate his services on January 1, 1967. Mr. & Pairs. James Ruble commended the Mayor and Town Council on the new Park and stated that the:; appreciated the street lights on Baker Ave. On behalf of the Town Council, 'Mayor Lannoye thanked Pair. & Ivirs.
