HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/20/1967 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesMarch 20, 1967 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mavor Forrest Lannove. Present were Councilmen John Wells, Art O'Neal, Lawrence Letts and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. John Wells reported that Mott Liek has constructed a shop for the mower. John Wells made a motion to charge one-half of the expense for the shop to the Park dept. and one-half to the Street dept. John Wells with -drew his motion. Art O'Neal made a motion for a letter of appreciation to be sent to Don Gills for the work he donated on the shop building. Motion was seconded by Lawrence Letts and passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor Lannove added his appreciation also. Art O+Neal reported that the Rotary Club will install a drinking fountain in the Town Park. John Wells requested permission for the Bov Scouts to sell Safe and Sane fireworks at the Food City Store. Insurance would be purchased by the Fireworks sales company. John Wells will check with a member of the Fire Dept. regarding this matter. Mayor Lannove stated that he has received telephone calls regarding old car bodies at 12th and Baker streets. Lawrence Letts will contact the owner and request removal of the car bodies to aid in the City Beautification program. Mayor Lannoye led a discussion on right-of-way acquisition on north Main Street from the present access street to 13th street. He instructed the Clerk to write a letter to the Douglas County P.U.D. asking the Commissioners to consider granting an additional 60 feet of right-of-way on the west side of the new P.U.D. property to be given to the Town to aid in the present program of widening Main Street to 80 feet. John Wells and Lawrence Letts made a motion that a letter be sent to Mr. Irish and the Eastmont High School Science Class complimenting_ then on the Science Fair and the Eastmont Winners. Art O'Neal seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor Lannoye reported on the verbal request by Ruth Beaudry for a permit to establish a trailer park. John Wells stated that if Mrs. Beaudry would give 10 feet of right-of-wav, he would give the project favorable consideration. Art O'Neal and Lawrence Letts were in favor of Franting the permit: John Wells made a motion to adjourn; motion seconded by Lawrence Letts and passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor L, hPel, Clerk
