HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/20/1967 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesFebruary 20, 1067 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannove. Present were Councilmen John ' Wells, Art O'Neal, Si Neher; Clerk Dorotha McGee and Chief of Police Joe Carl. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. John Wells reported that a number of street signs have been removed by vandals. He also stated that he has contacted Capri, Inc. regarding an additional 20 ft. of street right-of-way. Capri, Inc. requested a map of the street relating to the 20 ft. right-of-way requested by Mr. Wells. John Wells made a motion to appoint Ray Haase as Town Councilman to fulfill the unexpired term of John McDougall; motion seconded by Si Neher and passed by a majority vote. Opposed by Art O'Neal. Wayne Harsh inquired if the Mayor was conducting this meeting under a rule of order. Mayor Lannove replied that he was conducting the meeting as previous meetings were conducted and to the best of his ability. Mayor Lannove introduced Mrs. Joan Erickson from the Chelan -Douglas Board of Health. Mrs. Erickson explained that she was a represent- ative of the Head Start Program, and requested permission to borrow ' some book shelves from the library for Head Start Classes. After a discussion, John Wells made a motion to loan some of the wood book shelves for use in the East Wenatchee area only; motion seconded by Art O'Neal and passed by a unanimous vote. Mr. Ray Haase was sworn in as Town Councilman. Mayor Lannoye reported that he has been unable to get the Daily World to publish an article re,gardingthe use of the North Central Regional Library by East Wenatchee residents who ofm property in Douglas County. He stated that he has contacted Mr. Dintleman and the school bulletin will publish the facts regarding library use. After a general discussion the Council approved contacting Mr. Ordway, Waterville Empire -Press, and requesting his cooperation in noti£ing the public of the persons who are intitled to the use of the library. John Wells reported contacting Mrs. Moore retarding a bouncer for Minns Tavern. No firm agreement was reached. Art O'Neal objected to the Douglas County Sheriff's cars using the East Wenatchee radar unit within the Town limits. He stated that if Douglas County uses the radar unit, it should be outside the Town limits. Si Neher spoke in favor of close cooperation between the Town and Louglas County. John Wells made a motion that the present 3 hour parking limit be reduced to 2 hour parking as soon as the signs are installed; motion seconded by Si Neher and passed by a majority vote. Art O'Neal opposed.
