HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/21/1967 - City Council - City Council Meeting Minutes1 I August 21, 1967 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Harry Patrick, Arnold Stevens, Lawrence Letts and Clerk Dorotha Mc Gee. Mayor Lannoye presented a request by Larry Johnson for a variance for a setback on the proposed addition to his building on North Main Street. Lawrence Letts made a motion to grant the variance as requested; motion seconded by Harry Patrick and passed by a unanimous vote. Mir. L.L. Brown requested a variance for setback for the proposed new addition to the Medical Clinic. Variance requested is for 50+ from the center of street. Mr. Brown requested that variance be granted to Dr. Mike P. Michaels. Lawrence Letts made a motion to grant a variance for a setback of 50 ft. from the center df the street; motion seconded by Arnold Stevens and passed by a unanimous vote. Mrl L.L. Brown requested a variance be granted for building materials used in the proposed addition, so that new addition would conform with existing building. The frame construction would not meet the fire codes in fire zone 1. Clayton Wells, Building Inspector, and the Architect will consult and report to the council on types of materials to be used. Rowland Jones, State Highway Dept., Al Bettis, Douglas County Engineer and Al Gracie reported to the Council on the Grant Road project and its final costs to the County and to the Town. At this time Douglas County has spent $1,889.00 more than the orginal agreement. After a general discussion the Council decided to delay action on paying a portion of this amount to Douglas County until after the budget meeting. Mr. Jones assured the Council that any additional amount paid could be added to Arterial Project No. 3 as an over run. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. The Town Council decided to hold the next regular meeting on Wednesday, September 6, 1967. The following numbers were assigned to on at the next election; Harry Patrick Arnold Stevens - 2 yr, unexpired term term - No. 2; Ray Haase - 4 yr. term - filing for office will begin September 1967 at 5:00 p.m. the Council positions to be voted - 2 yr, unexpired term - No. 3; - No. 4; Lawrence Letts - 4 yr. No. 1. Mayor Lannoye announced that 8th and close on September 22nd, After a general discussion, the Mayor and Council decided to allow $8.00 per day toward fines for prisoners working for the Town. For prisoners not working, $4.00 per day will be allowed. Mayor Lannoye presented anc:agreement from The Health Department requesting that the Town pay $1,035.00 for health services for 1968. Lawrence Letts made a motion to table this matter for further discussion; motion seconded by Arnold Stevens and passed by a unanimous vote.
