HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/15/1968 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesApril 15, 1968 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Harry Patrick, Art O'Neal, Lawrence Letts; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. Harry Patrick repol$ed that the streets were striped today. Mayor Lannoye proclaimed the week of April 22nd to 27th as American Cancer Society Crusade Week. Mayor Lannoye reported that the owner of the Highway grocery has requested that the front edge of the porch on the store be painted yellow so his patrons will know that area is a restricted parking area. The Mayor stated that the problem is trucks parking in front of the store and across Adams street entry, obstructing the view of traffic entering Main street from Adams street. A discussion was held on possible methods to be used for alleviating this problem. Harry Patrick suggested that a yellow island be painted in front of the store and a white line down the center of Adams street. Mayor Lannoye stated that the Town should cooperate as fully as possible. ' Mayor Lannoye presented an agreement between Douglas County and the Town, whereas the Town gives the Douglas County Commissioners permission to improve Grant Road within the Town limits, at the expense of Douglas County. After a discussion Council members gave verbal approval to the Mayor to sign this agreement. After a discussion with the Town Attorney regarding his services, Lawrence Letts made a motion to pay said Attorney $200.00 per month starting April 1, 1968; motion was seconded by Harry Patrick and passed by a unanimous vote. This amount is to be reconsidered in two (2) months. John Carlson stated that he is trying to obtain the legal descrip- tions needed for the Quit Claim deeds requested by the Mayor. His request for the descriptions are at the title company. Lawrence Letts made a motion to adjourn; motion seconded by Art O'Neal and passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor Clerk
