HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/8/1968 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesJanuary 8, 1968 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Harry Patrick, Lawrence Letts, Art O+Neal, Arnold Stevens, flay Haase and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and stand approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current expense warrants nos. 2529 - 2550 Internal Revenue Service; 277.90 Employment Security Dept. 308.22 Dept. of Labor & Industries 46.90 Central Communications 8.36 Wenatchee Police Dept. 27.00 Wenatchee Farmers Exchange 70.23 North Central Chevrolet Co. 749.68 Wells & Wade Hardware 40.74 Standard Oil Co. 15.26 Food City Store 1.03 Elder Auto Parts, Inc. 19.57 General Telephone Co. 33.25 Trick & Murray 118.94 Waterville Empire=Press 19.55 Association of Washington Cities 77.48 Cascade Natural Gas Corp. 17.45 Douglas County P.J.D. 545.00 Flanigan, Libke & Jones 63.00 General Telephone Co. 14.65 Douglas County Auditor 7.80 Sachs Hardware 11.28 East Wenatchee Water District 6.00 Street Warrants nos. 713 - 720 Internal Revenue Service 90.20 Employment Security Dept. 111.62 Dept. of Labor & Industries 19.81 Sahlberg Equipment, Inc. 11201.75 East Side Garage 9.43 Wards Chevron Service 3.92 Wenatchee Farmers Exchange 23.42 Douglas Couhty Road Dept. 30.10 Lawrence Letts made a motion to pay the bills with the following exception; the voucher for Sahlberg Equipment, Inc. be reduced to $1,075.00 plus tax (total of 1,123.38) as this was the sales price as quoted; motion seconded by Ray Haase and passed by a unanimous vote. Lawrence Letts reported that Horace Bozarth has promised to give East Wenatchee a flag orginally flown from the White House. Mr. Letts will accept the flag. Mayor Lannoye reported that he has an offer of help for the flag pole for the park. Ray Haase stated that the street light has been installed at Highline Dr. and Pace Street, but the wires have yet to be connected. He also reported consulting with Bob Curtis regarding additional lighting at the Shopping Center entrance near the Security Bank, Arnold Stevens reported that the meeting with the Library Officials will be the last meeting in February. Mayor Lannoye led a discussion on salary increases for Town employees. Lawrence Letts made a motion to increase the salary of the Court clerk from the present $100.00 per month to $150.00 per month; motion seconded by Ray Haase and passed by a unanimous vote. Lawrence Letts made a motion to increase the salary of Charles Walker from 000.00 per month to $325.00 per month; motion seconded by Harry Patrick and passed by a unanimous vote. Lawrence Letts made a motion to increase the salary of Joe Carl a nd Mott Liek by $15.00 per month each, Joe Carl to receive '550.00 and Mott Liek to receive $515.00; motion seconded by Ray Haase and passed by a unanimous vote. Mayor Lannoye reported receiving a call from Philip Van Meter regarding a letter of recommendation from the Council to the State Liquor Board. Mr. Van Meter wishes to aquire and operate the local liquor store. Lawrence Letts made a motion that the Council give their approval for said letter; motion seconded by Ray Haase and passed by a majority vote. Art O'Neal abstained. Ray Haase made a motion to adjourn; motionseconded by Lawrence Letts and passed by a unanimous vote. C er 1
