HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/21/1969 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesApril 21, 1969 I Present at the regular meeting of the East Wenatchee Town Council were Councilmen.Harry Patrick, Art O'Neal, Lawrence Letts, Arnold Stevens, Ray Haase; Att6flney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee, Art O1Neal made a motion that Lawrence Letts serve as Mayor por-tem; motion seconded by Arnold Stevens and passed unanimously. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Lawrence Letts questioned Street Commissioner Harry Patrick regarding repair that the Sewer Listrict should make on the town streets. Lawrence Letts presented a request from George Sisler, Rotary Club, suggesting that the town park be named for Ernie Lake. Lawrence Letts suggested that this matter be tabled until all members were present. Lawrence Letts requested that Herb Olive explain the proposed zoning map of the area outside the present town limits. The map, as presented, is zoned the same as is presently zoned in the county. John Carlson stated that the Town Council makes the final decision in any zoning changes after recommendation by the Planning commission. Lawrence Letts called a ten minute recess before the Public Hearing began. Hearing to begin at 8:30 p.m. Lawrence Letts introduced John Tontz, Chairman of the East Wenatchee Planning Commission, to those present. John Tontz requested that Herb Olive explain the Comprehensive Plan to those persons present. Mr. Olive stated that in preparing theComprehensive Plan, the Commission had refered to the Douglas County Comprehensive Plan of 1964. Said plan included the town. He also stated that this plan will serve as an interim plan until a final plan is completed for the Town. Mayor Lannoye arrived at this time, and participated in the discussion. Herb Olive proposed that the plan, as presented, be made a part of the records of the town. This plan was approved by the Planning Commission last month. John Carlson recommended that Ordinances be written to adopt the Comprehensive Plan, both in the town and the area out of the tom limits. 101r. Flaherty asked how the town can zone areas outside the town limits. John Carlson replied that the State Statutes allow this. A discussion was held regarding the reasons interim zoning is needed.
