HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/16/1970 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesMarch 16, 1970 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Dick Morrill, Art OtNeal, Doug Hanna, Arnold Stevens; Attorney John Carlson, Clerk Dorotha McGee and Joe Carl. , The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Dick Morrill made a motion that the City authorize the call for bids on the U.A.B. Main Street Project; seconded by Art OtNeal and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye presented Ordinance No. 147 to the Council. Ordinance No. 147 imposes the local sales tax authorized by the 1970 Legislature First Extraordinary Session. Motion to approve and pass Ordinance No, 147 was made by Dick Morrill; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. Dick Morrill made a motion that the city sign the agreement with the State of Washington, Dept. of Revenue, for the collection of the local sales tax; seconded by Arnold Stevens and passed unanimously. Dick Morrill reported that the City of Wenatchee has a 1963 model truck with sander and snow plow for sale for the price of $1975.00. After a discussion, Arnold Stevens made a motion that the City of East Wenatchee purchase said truck; motion seconded by Dick Morrill and passed unanimously. John Carlson suggested that City Officials attend the next P.U.D. ' Board meeting with regards to the cities request that the P.U.D. place all wiring underground on the Main Street project. Arnold Stevens made a motion that the P.U.D. be petitioned to install all power utilities underground on the Main Street project; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. Joe Carl presented a price list for signs for the city vehicles. After a discussion, Mayor Lannoye suggested that this matter be tabled until the vehicles are painted. The East Wenatchee J.CtS have promised to prepare the vehicles for painting. Doug Hanna inquired about the hiring of ahother police officer. A letter from Mrs. Lyle Richmond commending Officer Charles Walker was read to the Council. After a discussion, the matter of hiring another officer was tabled. Art O'Neal made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Dick Morrill and passed unanimously. mayor r Clerk
