HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/2/1970 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesMarch 2, 1970 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Art I O'Neal, Dick Morrill, Doug Hanna; Attorney John Carlson, Clerk Dorotha McGee, Joe Carl and Mott Liek. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Current Expense warrants nos. 3331 - 3360 Joe H. Warrants nos. 18 - 19 John C. Carlson 187.85 Munson -Nash -Futrell & Associates 3,149.79 Art O'Neal made a motion to pay the bills; motion seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye appointed Doug Hanna to serve as Street Light Commissioner. Dick Morrill stated that a decision will have to be made as to where ' street signs will be placed when the U.A.B. project is completed. A discussion was held regarding requests to have utilities placed underground on the Main Street project. Mayor Lannoye introduced Mr. Dave Caldwell, Wenatchee City Commissioner and representative for Modern Machinery Co. Dick Morrill requested Mr. Caldwell describe the street sweeper that Modern Machinery has for sale or rent. The machine has a 30 day warranty and may be purchased or rented. The rental price is $500.00 per month plus tax. Art O'Neal made a motion that the City rent the street sweeper; motion seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. Mr. Caldwell stated that the sweeper will be delivered to the city, without cost, about March 15th. He requested proof of insurance. The Clerk was instructed to contact the Meenach Insurance Agency regarding this insurance on Fire, Theft, and Comprehensive. Mayor Lannoye appointed Frank Kuntz to serve as alternate Police Judge for the City. He will serve during any absence of Judge Hamilton. Mayor Lannoye requested that the Council consider increasing the salary of Judge Hamilton to $200.00 per month. Dick Morrill made a motion to increase said salary to $200.00 per month; seconded by Art O'Neal and passed unanimously. Increase to begin 17arch 1, 1970. Joe Carl explained the estimated costs for hiring another police officer. After a discussion , Mayor Lannoye requested that this matter be tabled until the next meeting.
