HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/19/1970 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesJanuary 19, 1970 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Art O'Neal, Doug Hanna, Ray Haase; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: Urban Arterial warrant no. 15 John C. Carlson $272.15 Doug Hanna made a motion to pay the bill; motion seconded by Art O'Neal and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye requested that Joe Carl explain the details and need for a portable radio for the Police Dept. Purchase price is $679.25. After a general discussion, Art O'Neal made a motion to purchase the radio, motion seconded by Ray Haase and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye stated that a petition of "Notice bf Intent to Commence Annexation Preceedings" had been presented to the Clerk on January 13, 1970. Doug Hanna made a motion to ratify the Mayor's decision to call a meeting with the petitioners on January 19, 1970; motion seconded by Art O'Neal and passed unanimously. Art O'Neal made a motion to accept the proposed annexation; motion seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. ' Ray Haase made a motion that the city require the adoption of the of the proposed zoning regulations as it is set forth in Ordinance No. 129, enacted July 15, 1968, and as it is set forth in the Suburban Comprehensive Land Use Plan of the City of East Wenatchee. Upon annexation of the property described, the area to the West of Eastmont Avenue shall be zoned as (R-1) residential district, as the same is defined in the East Wenatchee Zoning Ordinance No. 129. Upon annexation, that portion of the property described which is located East of Eastmont Avenue shall be zoned suburban residential as suburban residential is defined in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the City of East Wenatchee; motion seconded by Art O'Neal and passed unanimously. As the City of East Wenatchee has no indebtedness, then the Council stated that there would be no requirement for any assumption of indebtedness by the area to be annexed, upon annexation. Phil yan Meter, a petitioner, stated that the assessed valuation of the area was 1,080,135.00. Resolution No. 1017 was presented to the Mayor and Council. Resolution no. 1017 is a resolution appointing the city attorney as the person whose duty it is to certify a petition presented to the Council; Ray Haase made a motion to approve and pass Resolution No. 1017; motion seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. A discussion was held regarding the possibility of passing an Ordinance relating to the East Wenatchee Merchant Police. Mayor Lannoye requested that Joe Carl consult with Wenatchee Officials regarding the manner in which Merchant Police operate in Wenatchee.
