HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/21/1970 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesSEPTEMBER 21, 1970 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council wall called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Art C+Neal, Cliff Tvedten, Ed Rich, Doug Hanna, Arnold Stevens; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows: U.A. B. Warrant no. 67 Munson -Nash -Futrell & Associates $59025.00 Art O?Veal made a motion to pay the bill; seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Ed Rich reported attending the meeting, Saturday, regarding the proposed legislation for distribution of the gas tax. Said legislation would become effective in 1975. The Mayor and Council discussed this matter, and the general agreement was in opposition to said legislation. Mayor Lannoye reported that Ernie Moore, owner of Minns Tavern, has expressed oposition to parallel parking on Main Street. Doug Hanna stated that the new street lights have been installed on the Main Street project. Mayor Lannoye instructed Cliff Tvedten to contact the telephone company regarding rocks and debris+ left by the contractor on French Street, Mike Lynch, North Central Regional Library, explained services offered by the library district. John Carlson presented Resolution no. 1022; Resolution no. 1022 will increase the budget of the General Government, Police, and Park Departments in the amount of $2,625.00. Arnold Stevens made a motion to pass Resolution no. 1022; seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Mayor Lannoye stated that the Association of Washington Cities will hold meetings at Omak on October 6th, and Quincy on October 20th. If Council men are able to attend, notify the Clerk. John Carlson reported receiving a letter from Attorney James Lynch regarding the Kentucky Fried Chicken property, and possible flood damage to said property. 1 1 1 John Carlson reported that the Allen Condemnation case will be set for trial. He requested the maximum amount that he may agree to pay for settlement before trial. After a discussion, the majority of the Councilmen agreed to set the maximum amount at $101000.00.
