The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called
to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Art
OTNeal, Doug Hanna, Ed Rich, Arnold Stevens and Clerk Dorotha McGee.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
The bills were presented to the Council as follows:
U.A.B. Warrants nos. 43 - 44 - 45
Charles E. & Mary P. Reeder 8,950.00
George E. & Hettie Battermann 4,282.00
Eastmont Enterprises 27,527.10
Art O'Neal made a motion to pay the bills; seconded by Arnold
Stevens and passed unanimously.
Mr. George Swope, Mrs. Itarold Hawley and Mrs. E.V. Bozarth were
present and requested permission to use the city park Bbr art displays
on June 14 - 28th, July 11-12-26th, August 9-22-23rd. Park
Commissioner Art O'Neal stated that the park,was precommi.tted to the
Kiwanis Club each year for the salmon barbecue; however he has no
objections if dates do not conflict. Mr. Swope stated that the
Artists have pledged to donate 10% of the sales to the park fund
or to any fund the city designates. He also stated that he will be
responsibile for keeping the park area clean. After a discuosion
Art O'Neal made a motion that the park may be used for the art displays
if no problems are created; motion seconded by Doug Hanna and passed
unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye presented a letter from the Chelan County Port District I
requesting reaffirmation of the city's approval of Columbia river
navigation. The clerk prepared a letter, signed by the Mayor and
Councilmen, to be sent to the Port District.
Mission Ridge Cable T.V. requested permission to place the TV. cable
underground in the area of the Main street project. John Carlson
recommended that the permit be granted with the approval of Munson-
X sh; that cable be placed in the utility strip if possible and
addition of section no. 3 to the request; Said underground T.V. Cable
to be incorporated in conjunction with General and Northwest Bell
telephone co. coinduit. Arnold Stevens made a motion to approve
application with above stipulations; seconded by Ed Rich and passed
unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye presented a request from Phil Van Meter, to allow
female entertainers at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. The Council agreed
to grant the request, however if the entertainment is considered
unsuitable, said permission will be revoked.
The proposal from the P.U.D. regarding a street light franchise was
tabled until the next meeting.
Art O'Neal made a motion to adjourn; motion seconded by Ed Rich
and passed unanimously.
