HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/4/1970 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesMay 4, 1970 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye; Present were Councilmen Doug Hanna, Arnold Stevens, Ed Rich and Clerk Dorotha McGee. Arnold Stevens made a motion to appoint Mr. 61ifford Tvedten to the City Council to fulfill the position of Dick Morrill until the next election; seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Mr. Tvedten was sworn into office by the Clerk. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The bills were presented to the Council as follows; Current expense warrants nos. 3403 - 3435 Joe H. Co. 5�850.00 r Gerald P. & Bertha Ramaker 800.00 Mayor Lannoye recommended that the voucher for Gerald and Bertha Ramaker not be paid . Arnold Stevens made a motion to exclude the Ramaker voucher; seconded by Ed Rich and passed unanimously. Arnold Stevens made a motion to pay the remainder of the bills; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. Doug Hanna reported that an existing street light will be moved to a location on Rock Island Road as requested by Mr. Graybell. Mayor Lannoye requested that the Council members check the location of 2 or 3 street lights not in the city limits. Mayor Lannoye presented Ordinance No. 150 to the Council. Ordinance No. 150 relates to Condemnation preceedings. Doug Hanna made a motion to approve and pass Ordinance No. 150; seconded by Arnold Stevens and passed unanimously. After a discussion regarding insurance coverage for the new dump truck, the Council decided to obtain liability coverage only. Mayor Lannoye requested that Arnold Stevens contact insurance a gencies regarding costs for the City insurance. Present policy premium is due July 1, 1970. Mayor Lannoye reported receiving complaints of speeding on Baker Ave. He requested that the police dept. use the radar unit in that area. Mayor Lannoye reported that persons from Carnation, Washington using the city park over the week -end have expressed their appreciation for the hospitality shown by the city. Mayor Lannoye appointed Clifford Tvedten as Utilities Commissioner and Ed Rich as Street Commissioner. Doug Hanna made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed unanimously.
