HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/15/1971 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesMarch 15, 1971 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Cliff Tvedten, Art O'Neal, Ed Rich, Doug Hanna; Attorney Uohn Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Ed Rich reported that he has received an estimate of $3,800.00 for seal coating Main Street. He stated this would need to be included in the next budget. John Carlson led a discussion on the preliminary draft of an ordinance requiring utilities to be placed underground. Bob Barr spoke to the Mayor and Council members regarding the re- quest of Center Investments to change the name of Main street to Eastmont Boulevard. Mayor Lannoye stated the proposal to change the name of the City should be on the ballot in November. John Carlson stated that under the Optional Municipal Code, it was necessary for the City to establish a Board of Adjustment. After adiscussion, Council members decided the Board should consist of 5 members appointed by the Mayor, upon ddvise of Council members. Mayor Lannoye submitted the name of Dick Morrill for membership to the Board. The City Attorney will prepare the ordinance. John Carlson presented Ordinance No. 162 to the Mayor and Council for the first reading. Ordinance No. 162 established pay for the Mayor and Council members. Cliff Tvedten made a motion to approve and pass Ordinance no. 162 for the first reading; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. John Carlson explained the proposed criminal code ordinance to the Council. Mayor Lannoye read a letter from the Wenatchee Merchant Police offering for dale to the City, a car equiped for Police work. After a discussion, the Council was not in favor of said purchase. Doug Hanna made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed unanimously. � v 2 Y Clerk
