HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/20/1971 - City Council - City Council Meeting MinutesSeptember 20, 1971 The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Art O'Neal Ed Rich, Doug Fianna, Cliff Tvedten; Attorney John Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Bills for payment October 1, 1971 were presented to the Council as follows: Current expense warrants nos. 4013 - 4019 Joe H. Carl $534.46 Clifford E. Hahn 513.00 Dorotha McGee 181.20 John C. Carlson 209.30 Wm. M. Hamilton 155.85 Dorotha McGee 354.45 Mott W. Liek 162.08 Street Warrant no. 1135 Mott W. Liek 371.60 Doug Hanna mo`,ed to pay the bills; seconded by Art O'Neal and passed by a unanimously. Doug Hanna reported a street light near the bank has been repaired. Mayor Lannoye presented Resolution no. 1034 to the Council. Resolution no. 134 established 13th st, from U.S. 2 to Baker st. as an Arterial street. Ed Rich moved to pass Resolution no. 1034; seconded by Art O'Neal and passed unanimously. 4 Council members gave their approval for Morrill Asphalt Co. to resurface 13th st. from U.S. 2 to Arbor Terrace, at a cost of approximately $1,900.00. John Carlson presented Ordinance No. 168 to the Mayor and Council. Ordinance no. 168 relates to condemnation of property needed for the Baker street project. Ed Rich moved to approve and pass Ordinance no. 168; seconded by Doug Hanna and passed unanimously. After a discussion, Doug Hanna moved that the city license card tables at $25.00 for the month of September and $60.00 per month thereafter; motion seconded by Ed Rich and passed uhanimously. John Carlson will prepare an atdendment to Ordinance no. 54. Doug Hanna moved to set the tax levy for 1972 at 7.5 mills; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed by a unanimous vote. Council members agreed to call for bids for a new police car; bids to be opened October 18, 1971. Mayor Lannoye was authorized to prepare the specifications. The Mayor and Council discussed the possibility of the City paying for cleaning the police uniforms. Art O'Neal will present costs at the next meeting. &I Council members were in favor of hiring a third police officer. Cliff Tvedten moved to adgaurn; seconded by Ed Rich and sled unanimously.
