The regular meeting of the East Wenatchee City Council was called
to order by Mayor Forrest Lannoye. Present were Councilmen Ed Rich,
Art ®*neal, Cliff Tvedten, Doug Hanna, Arnold Stevens, Attorney John
Carlson and Clerk Dorotha McGee.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
The Bills were presented to the Council as follows:
Current Expense .':arrant no. 3862
Clerk, East Wenatchee Post Office $40.98
Doug Hanna moved to p4y the bill; seconded by Cliff Tvedten and passed
unanimously.
Art O'Neal reported that the dead tree has been removed from the park.
A letter from Gene Waggoner was presented to the Council. Said letter
requests use of the City Park for art shows onJune 199 July 17,
August 21, and September 18, 1971. The Council approved use of the
park as requested provided the exhibit was suitable for family viewing.
Cliff Tvedten moved to authorize Doug Hanna to arrange for Carl Gootch
to re -roof the City Hall at a cost of $$280.00; motion seconded by
Ed Rich and passed unanimously.
Ed Rich stated that if the City is awarded funds for the Baker St.
project; three firms are interested in submitting costs for the
engineering. He wishes each firm interested, to meet with the City
Council. He stated that it would be preferable to have the engineering
fee set at a given figure, before awarding work.
The Councilmen requested Mayor Lannoye to attend the U.A.B. meeting
in Olympia on May 20, 1971.
The City Council decided the Police Dept. will continue the dog
control work in the city limits at this time.
Arnold Stevens made a motion to set the salary for the probationaky
period for a police patrolman at $600.00 per month; seconded by
Art O'Neal and passed unanimously.
Mayor Lannoye expressed his appreciation to the Volunteer Fireman and
Civil Defense for their help during the fire at Apple Lanes, Arnold
Stevens expressed his concern for danger to persons at -the damaged
Apple lanes building. He feels the area should be fenced to keep
un-authorized persons out.
The Community Planning & Affairs Agency notified the City that the
preliminary census figure has been set at 1027 persons.
Arnold Stevens moved to adjourn; seconded by Ed Rich and passed
unanimously.
